Christmas cards on digital tv
Christmas is the one time of the year that most families like to celebrate together. With so many people living and working far away from home it is a lovely time to join in festivities together. Children get very excited in the run up to Christmas and Christmas cards (Weihnachtskarten) along with decorations and baubles are on sale in the shops from September onwards. Many people prefer to buy their Christmas presents early to avoid the rush and as Christmas approaches special programmes and advertisements begin to appear on digital TV as a way of selling goods. Sometimes Christmas specials are advertised such as Christmas cards online (Weihnachtskarten online) which is very convenient for anyone who is pushed for time or people who are housebound. Some people do all their Christmas shopping this way and find that they can get some good bargains. Usually after Christmas the sales start in the shops but by buying on-line whether it is Christmas cards or other everyday items, with such competitive prices and quick delivery, usually within a day or so straight to the home, it is far easier than trailing from shop to shop in search of a bargain.

Giving and receiving Christmas cards and presents is a tradition that has happened for thousands of years together with hanging up Christmas decorations and lights. The Christmas tree is usually bought two or three weeks before Christmas and women get busy baking Christmas cakes, mince pies and Christmas puddings. Christmas presents for the children will be well hidden away and many children will go with their parents to visit Father Christmas at one of the big stores in town. The traditional Christmas day dinner is Turkey, stuffing, chipolata sausages, roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, parsnips and cranberry sauce. All this is followed by Christmas pudding and a few glasses of wine or beer. The following day, Boxing Day, often people go for a long walk to burn off the excess calories they have consumed over the Christmas period. No sooner is Christmas over than the holiday programmes start to appear on television and Christmas is soon forgotten as people search for the perfect summer holiday.
